Two newly formed WPSL teams went head to head in Port St. Lucie — home of the Treasure Coast Dynamites — on Saturday, May 31st. The Dynamites hosted the Florida Kraze Krush (FKK), based out of Orlando, Fl., at South County Stadium. Both teams are part of the Sunshine State Conference.
In the early stage of the first half, Kraze Krush utilized their speed up front, taking control of the game by applying a lot of pressure on the young Dynamites’ defense. It was the brilliance of the Dynamites' goalkeeper Marissa Oehler that kept the score nil. As the minutes passed, the Dynamites seemed to gain confidence and started manufacturing some offensive danger against FKK’s defense. At the 26th minute, forward Estelle Esperance, created a golden opportunity for the Dynamites. She dribbled past one defender inside of the right side of the box and took a shot that was deflected by the Krush goalkeeper to the left corner of the post, where a Dynamites’ forward failed to put the ball into the empty net. At the 30th minute, off a corner kick, left forward Jody LeMaster out-jumped everyone in the FKK penalty area to put a beautiful header over the keeper; however, a defender headed the ball out to prevent a sure goal for the Dynamites. These misses seemed to motivate FKK even more, who opened the score at the 34th minute mark when Sarah Medina tapped in a cross from Bianca Brinson.
Although the Dynamites started the second half with more ball possession, FKK was the sharper team with some quick side-to-side passes and more attacks through Bianca Brinson. At the 59th minute, a cross from Brinson ricocheted off a few players directly in front of the net and was finally put in the back of the net by Mora Johnson. With a (2-0) advantage and the encouragement of their head coach, FKK increased the ball possession with more touches from their two extremely technical central defenders. The Dynamites found themselves chasing the game and took a gamble by sending central defender, Helen Ramsey, at her natural center forward position. Even though the Dynamites created some opportunities, FKK capitalized the change of defense with two goals –— first at the 81st minute from Emily Tipton, then at the 88th from Bianca Brinson — the player of the game, who finished with one goal and two assists. The Florida Kraze Krush finished with a 4-0 win over the Treasure Coast Dynamites. The young Dynamites fought hard, but got beat by a better team.

The Dynamites next two games are on the road: 7 pm Saturday, June 7, at Team Boca Blast, and 11 am Sunday, June 8, at FC Surge. The Dynamites next home game is 3 pm Sunday, June 15 against Tampa Bay Hellenic.
